Whether I’m taking photo’s at the local beach or on top of a mountain, there are many times when friends come along. It is these times when I get the opportunity to put a little creativity into my portrait photography. This has become something I am starting to enjoy, and I plan to expand on this creativity in the near future.

I’m not sure what it is, but when I’m sitting on top of a mountain looking down at the world. I feel almost obligated to document what I’m seeing.

With these pictures in particular, I was standing on top of Cowles Mountain at 11:30 p.m. It was a full moon and the moment was incredible. I was on top of that mountain for 3 hours that night and I took away much more than just some pictures. These are some examples of what I saw.

There is something about the brightly lit buildings in the night that intrigues me. As far as lighting, Lights come from every different direction which allows me to almost customized the image to how I want it. Besides that, the peace that’s involve when taking the photos is unimaginable. To me, it’s almost a zen. something that could cheer me up from any bad day.

With these particular picture, I was located on top of a grassy hill which gave me a 360 degree view of San Diego and its ocean. the moment wasn’t perfect, but it certainly gave me some ideas as to what my next project will be.

Everything about them, from the moment they reach the surface, to the time they gently brush the beach, They are simply beautiful.
So to better understand these mysterious shapes of energy, I set off on a journey to document them in every way possible. I learned about there form, there purpose, and also what seemed like there personality.
And though my journey continues, the pictures above are a sample of what I’m talking about.

A place for you to get acquainted with what exactly I do.

When I leave for a photo shoot, the pictures taken that day need to go through organization, a small bit of editing, and of course naming before they can be on the web. this process takes time, lots of time, and because of that I’ve added the “speak” page. Here, you get to peak behind the scenes, then speak your mind about what I’m doing.

I encourage everyone join in, because truly, it’s fun to speak.

Cheers,

Mike Simpson

The photography that I do on this website, although time consuming, has developed into distinct love in my life. One in which I put much time and effort towards for a very small but gratifying product that I have come to enjoy.
And so the question turns to you:
What do you think?
